Do You Think Diggs Belong in Google Results?

If you stand back and look at Digg.com

from a real standpoint, what does the Digg.com website really offer? Sure, Digg offers a link to the actual authored story, and a very brief summary of the story and sometimes a few comments from the Digg community.

Alan Stern believes "that this is not enough to warrant a listing in Google. Since at its most basic sense Digg only offers a link to the actual story, then that story should occupy that position within Google, not the Digg link."

I am of the opinion that any website, including any search engine that promotes other peoples original content are of extreme value to the authors.

For most people, getting a decent pagerank in the search engines for any single article is almost impossible today unless the article has tons of websites backlinking to it.

Web 2.0 - Social Community Internet Article Content Marketing Websites like Digg.com, Delicious.com, IsPopularOnline.com, and all websites that publish RSS content and are treated like celebrities and given red carpet treatment because people like them for the great job they do promoting and bringing to the forefront the authors material, as well these sites give a voice to the popel that wish to critique these works, whereas Google and the Search Engines do not.

In regards to faireness, I work Google everyday for pagerank, and Google is actually a very fair search engine, in my humble opinion... but what you need to understand, is the criteria that must be met in order to earn a good pagerank.

Personally I know that Adsense websites are in no way favored by Google.

I do know that if your site content is constantly changing and updated, and your articles are unique... and of course, you have many external quality websites linking back to your website's articles and quality content, that you will have a great ranking website.

Digg does meets all of the above criteria for good pagerank and this is why you see Diggs in the Google and Yahoo Search Results.

The reason these Diggs may often rank better than the articles themselves today, is because Digg users can post any digg to their blogs. This is a very efficient way to backlink any digged article - hence the blogged digg post can sometimes easily get a better ranking than an article that has not been published effectively far and wide on the internet. Bottom line, its great exposure to the original content article and the author of a good article does not have to waste hours of his life internet marketing the article to get it read.

Community Internet marketing of Articles and Original Content works! Its my opinion again that the internet needs even more community and social websites that specialize in niche types of content!
