| "Johnny Depp paid $56m for new Pirates film" Tue, 7 Oct 2008 07:07:01 GMT Johnny Depp will pick up a staggering $56,000,000 (GBP 32,000,000 / 44.500.000 Euro) for starring in a fourth Pirates Of The Caribbean film. This will be the highest up front pay cheque in showbiz history. The huge pay day eclipses Tom Hanks' $51,000,000 (GBP 29,000,000 / 37.500.000 Euro) salary for DaVinci Code follow up Angels And Demons. Now Depp will become a record breaker by returning to his role of loveable rogue Captain Jack Sparrow. An insider revealed: "It's a lot of swag but there's only one Johnny Depp. They simply cannot make another 'Pirates' movie without Jack Sparrow." Insiders claim the movie will have Captain Jack searching for the elixir of eternal youth. It is unlikely that Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley will return to their roles. The insider added: "The first three films have earned $2.7billion at the box-office. It's no surprise that Disney executives want Jack back and they are willing to pay big bucks to get him." |
